MAKE A DONATION

Close Up exists to help young people become informed and engaged citizens. Our transformational Close Up programs help students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to become active and involved in their democracy. Since our inception in 1971, over 850,000 students and teachers have experienced government in action on our various Close Up programs in Washington, DC. Their participation is made possible through the efforts of partnerships with parents, schools, and generous donors nationwide.

Our students come from all walks of life, including urban and rural communities, as well as those from a wide range of racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. This diversity creates a dynamic learning environment where Close Up students can discuss and debate the policy issues impacting our nation today. Critical to our mission is facilitating the participation for students from disadvantaged communities. Often, these young people have the desire to become more active citizens by participating on our Washington programs, but they lack the funds to do so.

We believe that the rights and responsibilities of citizenship should be open to all, regardless of financial means. You can help engage the next generation of active citizens by making a donation to Close Up. We’ll use your donation to help provide financial assistance to extend our reach to deserving students and teachers across the country.

Close Up is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our tax ID # is 23-7122882. Please consult your tax advisor to see if your contribution may be tax-deductible.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Mia Charity or call 800-CLOSE UP today.

"You learn to look at the world completely differently, and for me it was reassuring that there are people out there who think like I do. I would encourage anyone with the opportunity to go on the trip, you’ll have a blast, learn a lot, and make some life-long friends!"
